Post-Modern Graphic Design example #29 (6/30)

This design was produced as a redesign for the Lollapalooza of Brasil in 2022 and compared to the original design, I can say I think this one catch more of the aesthetic of the event and draws the viewer in much more. The design contains several postmodern features including overlapping elements, illustrations, textures, flashy colors, manipulation of reality, abstract elements, geometric forms, a tilted axis and unconventional typography. There are two different designs shown, as one is the main cover design and there are serval other branding designs, the bottom design being one of them. Every one of the postmodern features is shown in the bottom design, while the first lacks a tilted axis. There is a lot of manipulation going on within the typography, but it is still legible text. The designers overlapped the text within the second design, where they also show the tilted axis within the circular text. There are several geometric elements in both designs, overlapping colors and textures, which add definition and dimension to the design. This is incredibly different from the last example I saw, the Ray Gun magazine issue. The last example showed very classy colors and some photo manipulation, while this example on Behance doesn't show many photos, flashy colors and many geometric forms. The text is similar in both designs, as all of the designers use nontraditional styles, different scales, widths (each section of text is different in these designs, as well as the last example). I think this design is very important because it plays so much with textures and colors. We have seen a lot of different examples such as the very classy, monotone postmodern designs compared to the ones that contain the flashy colors feature. I think the flashy colors portray the abstract style of many postmodern features, and this design definitely screams abstract. Not only because of its unconventional text and flashy colors, but also because of the amount of texture. This design pulls me in with the amount of texture they were able to portray, especially within the first design as it shows a wave appearance on the pink background. The design they were able to produce did exactly what it was supposed to do, draw the audience in, which is the most important goal of designing something for such a large event.
