Post-Modern Graphic Design example #15 (6/21)

This piece created in the current era, 2023, shows a bolder design compared to the other examples we have seen in postmodernism. Even though the postmodern era was in the late 19th century, we still see designers using the postmodern features and even taking inspirations form popular artists during the era. This design on Behance has strong use of flashy colors, unconventional typography, overlapping elements, and a collage-like style, which are all features of post-modernism. There are also several different textures happening in the design which can be assumed from the inspiration from Paula Scher. The collage style is associated with April Greiman, and the flashy colors, most likely with Paula Scher again. The only feature that this design has that is incredibly different than the others is the illegible typography. The other examples we have seen, especially the last one, had a purpose to inform so their text is clearly readable, sized accordingly, and even if it on a tilted axis, the audience is still able to comprehend what it says. Although, with this design on Behance, the text is just letters, some reversed, upside down, or half off the page. The other thing that this design differs from with the last example by Bennet is the lack of a tilted axis. Even though the type is nontraditional, and the photo is morphed with other colors and textures, everything is straight on the page. I think this example is very important to postmodernism because it is such an interesting take as it is so nontraditional. The design is very bold and unconventional, which is normal for post modernism but compared to the other examples I have researched, this one takes an extreme take on the flashy, overlapping, and bold features of a typical postmodern piece. This is very interesting since the design is so current, yet they took the postmodern design and added a bold look, while other designs now a days are more minimalist. Overall, this piece grabs your attention and pulls you in with how they were able to keep so many post-modern features.
